Matterdale Parish Neighbourhood Planning Area

The first stage when a community wants to carry out any form of neighbourhood planning is to designate the 'neighbourhood area' which it will cover.

A neighbourhood area application was received by the Lake District National Park Planning Authority from Matterdale Parish Council. After a six-week consultation period the area was designated on 26 February 2014. This gave the Parish Council the right to produce their own neighbourhood plan or neighbourhood development orders.

A working group was established to prepare a neighbourhood plan. The pre-submission consultation on the draft neighbourhood plan took place between 6 October and 14 November 2014. The neighbourhood plan proposal was submitted to the Authority on 10 December 2014. The Lake District National Park Authority, on 16 December 2015, decided to make the Matterdale Neighbourhood Development Plan. It now forms part of the Development Plan for the Lake District National Park.
