National Planning Policy Framework

National Planning Policy Framework on GOV.UK, originally published in March 2012, was substantially revised in July 2018, February 2019 and more recently in July 2021.

Planning applications in Eden must be determined in accordance with the Eden Local Plan, unless material considerations indicate otherwise. One key material consideration will be policies in the National Planning Policy Framework. Due weight will be given to policies in existing plans according to their consistency with the NPPF.

The NPPF must also be taken into account in the preparation of plans. Plans will need to be revised to take into account the policies in the NPPF where a conflict is identified.
