Housing, health and safety rating system

The Housing, Health and Safety Rating System is the national standard for inspecting houses. During a housing inspection, an officer will look for 29 different hazards. These include: damp and mould growth, electrical safety and fire safety.

See the Healthy Homes HHSRS Guide on the Housing, Health, and Safety Rating System, including what Environmental Health officers look for, checking your property for hazards, and what legal action the council may take.

See renting out your property on GOV.UK for details of landlords responsibilities.
