Heating System Service and Repair Grant
1. The Heating System Service and Repair Grant provides financial assistance to vulnerable homeowners who are unable to meet the cost of servicing or maintaining their domestic heating systems.
Eligibility
1.1 A person is eligible to apply for a Boiler Service Grant if they:
(a) Are an owner-occupier whose sole residence is within Westmorland and Furness Council, and
(b) Are aged over 18, and
(c) Are in receipt of a “passported” benefit as follows:
• Universal Credit
• Income Support
• Guarantee Pension Credit (excluding Savings Credit)
• Housing Benefit
• Council Tax Reduction (Local scheme)
• Working or Child Tax Credits where the income for tax credits award purposes are below £15,050
• Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
• Income-related Employment and Support Allowance, or
(d) Have a gross household income (excluding non-dependents) of less than £31,000 per annum and savings less than £16,000 (evidence is required).
What works are eligible?
1.2 The Heating System Service & Repair Grant applies to domestic oil, gas and electric heating systems and will cover the following measures:
a) Servicing and repair costs up to £750 (including VAT).
b) The Heating System Service and Repair Grant will not fund, or part fund, new heating systems.
How to apply?
• Complete an application form (PDF: 615 Kb).
• You will be advised whether you qualify for the Heating System Service and Repair Grant subject to passing the eligibility criteria.
• Prior to arrangements having been made for the work to be carried out Westmorland and Furness Council must be advised of the chosen engineer. Appropriate checks will be made to establish that the chosen heating engineer is either Gas Safe or Hetas registered (as appropriate).
• Payment will be made directly to the client on receipt of the invoice and proof of payment. The grant payment will be for a maximum of £750 including VAT.
Availability
The grant is only available until funds are no longer available.
Grants will be assessed on a first come first served basis.
