Late opening to help Castletown gear up for Residents Parking Scheme

The new Castletown (Penrith) Residents’ Parking scheme will come into force from Monday 17 May 2010. Eden District Council’s Contact Centre staff at the Town Hall in Penrith, are gearing up in readiness for the flood of permit applications. The rush has already started and dozens of permits have already been issued in preparation for the start of the scheme.

In order to help working families and shift workers, Contact Centre staff  have volunteered to provide two special late night sessions to 7pm, on Thursday the 13 and Thursday 20 of May 2010.

Applications must be made in person and residents should bring along proof of residency, ideally with a Council tax bill and proof of ownership of the vehicle, ideally with a V5 or current Insurance document.

Linda Methven, Customer Services Manager at Eden District Council, said: “This is an unprecedented development which I know the staff are happy to offer, to ensure all the residents of Castletown area can apply and receive their residents’ parking permits.”

The Contact Centre at the Town Hall in Penrith is normally open between 8:45am-5:15 pm Monday to Thursday and from 8:45 am-4:45pm on a Friday for all Council Customer Services.  For more information tel: 01768 817817 or email: customer.services@eden.gov.uk
